Chemical Peel
Light chemical peels are also known as glycolic acid peels, AHA chemical peels, or salicylic acid chemical peels. Glycolic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that occurs naturally in sugar cane, is the most common ingredient of light chemical peels. The ingredients and formulation of a light chemical peel, however, depend upon the specific patient’s skin care needs. With light chemical peels, the chemical solution is left on the skin for a relatively short amount of time. When applied to the face or another part of the body, the AHA chemical peel solution works by removing the outer layers of skin so that a new, smooth layer of skin is revealed. The action of the chemical solution stimulates the production of elastin and collagen, essential components of healthy, youthful skin. Depending on your skin type and the strength of the peel used, you can expect to start peeling 1-2 days after the peel was performed and continue to peel for 2-10 days. Not everyone peels.

POST PEEL
- Avoid exercise for at least a few hours after the procedure.
- You will cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser. We recommend plain Vanicream cleanser, Dove bar soap, Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, or CeraVe Cleanser. Do not scrub!!
- If the peeling area is not tender to the touch, you can apply makeup with a brush after applying a moisturizer with sunscreen. Do not use liquid foundation or concealer until you stop peeling.
- Direct sun exposure without sunscreens of SPF 15 or higher should be avoided.
- You may resume normal daily skin care and moisturizers immediately after treatment. Keep your face moisturized at all times. If your face feels tight, it is a sign to apply moisturizer. We recommend Aquaphor or Vaseline.
